With over 40 years in the rail industry, ROMIC Group are the specialists in the import and export of rolling stock and locomotives. From our beginnings as a supplier of GE and EMD parts, we now oversee a worldwide operation that covers:

ROMIC Group work with a wide range of stakeholders; from private train operating companies (TOCs) and rolling stock companies (ROSCOs), to national / state rail operators, to consultants and engineering/infrastructure providers. Our experience, and international network of contacts, ensures we are best placed in the industry to match buyers and sellers, and to manage the logistics and freight handling required to trade locomotives and rolling stock on a global stage.

Our service allows our partners to maximise the return on their surplus assets, whilst ensuring their valuable time is not taken up dealing with the complexities of the sale and export / import process.

Consultancy & Engineering

As part of our sales process we routinely arrange for pre-sales modification and engineering work. This can range from a simple overhaul and repaint, to a full re-power or re-gauge. The process will begin with a formal inspection and written report detailing the current condition, service capabilities and the scope of works to modify to the buyer’s requirements. We will then arrange the engineering work either in-country or at the country of destination. This process will be fully documented, and a detailed handover and acceptance process will follow.

Transport, Shipping & Logistics

ROMIC Group provide an end-to-end service. This covers all transport movements within country, from the vendor’s site direct to port, or via our own storage facility or workshop for engineering work.

Road or rail transport will be arranged via our network of trusted partners, with all local requirements and permissions for over-size loads, to include police approval and escorts, managed as required.

Once at port, our personnel will oversee every stage of the loading, as well as the final unloading at the destination port.

Commissioning, Training, Support & Parts

Our service does not stop once the rolling stock or locomotives have been exported. We provide tailored packages of commissioning, training (driver and workshop), as well as ongoing technical support both in-person and remote. We also provide ongoing parts packages via our network of suppliers for both consumable and capital spares.
